Teacher of English and Drama - September 2026

An exciting opportunity has opened up to join an enthusiastic and dedicated staff team in a small but growing independent school with an excellent reputation. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented teacher of English and Drama in KS3 and KS4 with some teaching in KS5 a possibility. The post is full time.

Thames is a mainstream, co-educational independent secondary school catering for pupils aged 11-18. It is located next to Clapham Junction station, in brand new, purpose built premises.

The role:

  • Teaching English and Drama in KS3 and KS4

  • Teaching some English in KS5 is a possibility

  • Planning and delivering well structured lessons and ensuring that high standards of engagement are maintained in the classroom

  • Suggesting and implementing strategies to improve engagement and progress

  • Implementing the school’s strategic vision for English and Drama, through long, medium and short term planning and further developing appropriate schemes of learning and resources.

  • Contributing to the school’s vibrant co-curricular performing arts program.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a graduate with a relevant good honours degree

  • Be a creative, innovative and dedicated teacher with a real passion for your subject

  • Have a commitment to embracing challenges and raising pupil attainment

  • Have an exceptional eye for detail

  • Have experience in either the private or maintained sector
