Our A Level provision is intended to give pupils an excellent platform from which to go on to higher education or employment.

Flexible subject combinations, tutorial sized classes with highly experienced teachers, individualised learning and pastoral support along with the freedom to pursue individual interests within small group environments make Thames an ideal environment in which to study A levels.

With 39% of A level grades at A*/A and 85% at A*/C, our 2025 leavers’ destinations included: Exeter, Bath, Cardiff, Swansea, Manchester, Sheffield, Surrey, Essex, Kingston, Nottingham Trent and Goldsmiths along with City & Guilds Art School. Degree subjects include Architecture, Engineering, Product Design, Biomedical Sciences, Accounting & Finance, Psychology, Public Health and Human Geography.

Art and 3D Design were particularly strong with 90% of grades at A*/A and a number of students receiving unconditional university offers. The crossover between Maths, Physics and 3D Design has been a highly successful combination for prospective engineers.

Our new purpose built facility next to Clapham Junction station has been designed with A levels in mind. Sixth Form students benefit from a common room, a quiet study room and separate seminar rooms along with the extensive specialist facilities for science, art, design technology, music and drama. On sunny days they are able to study or socialise on the rooftop courtyard.

“A ‘life skills’ program helps prepare pupils for adult life. For example, pupils in the sixth form engage in cookery classes as part of their preparation for life at university. Pupils consider diverse cultural perspectives. Pupils are highly engaged to see the value of learning about aspects of life that will help them in the future.”
