We’re delighted to report that some of our Visual Arts students have just won prizes and commendations in the 2026 ISA London West Regional Art awards:
Previous Head Gril Leilani, who completed her A Levels in Summer 2026, won two second prizes in Art – one for her brilliant portrait of ‘My Dad’ and the other for her drawing of ‘Sir John Soane’s staircase’. Leilani also received a ‘Highly Commended’ In 3D Design for her depiction of a lamp. The inspiration for which was taken from the project theme of ‘skeletal’, it was designed as if to be a product sold in the Natural History Museum shop.

Also ‘Highly Commended’ was Zara’s music stand, which was her GCSE final piece designed at the right height for a harpist. As a talented musician, this project was personal as well as practical. Zara, now in Year 12, continues to study Music at A Level.

In Textiles, Elsie, now Year 12, was highly commended for her GCSE leather geometric top. Elsie is one of our first Sixth Form students to study Textile A Level at Thames.

Mr Adkins, Deputy Head and Head of Art and Design, commented: “We’re delighted that the innovative and highly imaginative portraits and design pieces have been recognised by the judges of this prestigious annual award. In a highly competitive field with many schools taking part, it was great for our students to be recognised in this way”.
