Following the fantastic news last term that some of our Year 11 students were successful in the ISA Composer Competition at the end of last term, we have been pleased to receive some feedback from the judges.
Talia submitted her piece ‘Ragtime Jazztime’ and won first prize in the Year 10-11 Instrumental category. Her piece was described as “fantastic. nicely understated [with a] bold character and less-obvious (jazzy) chord choices”.
Spencer was awarded second place for his piece ‘Hit of Something Else’ which demonstrated a “very nice, tender, bittersweet character, with some lovely chord choices and sevenths”.
Matthew received a Highly Commended award in the Year 10-11 Vocal category and the feedback sent “Congratulations!” with the hope that the “beautifully proportioned” piece gets performed a lot.
