Our new building

Building work in Grant RoadYork Gardens

The new Thames building in Grant Road continues to rise. The contractor is ahead of schedule which bodes well for our planned move over the summer of 2021. Whilst the frame goes up we are busy working on the interior design so that work can start on the internal space before Christmas this year. We are looking at some very exciting design proposals for laboratories and workshops as well as library, performance and sixth form spaces. The open and spacious layout will be a game changer for Thames pupils who will be able to enjoy a physical environment that matches the quality of our staffing and ethos.

The planning application for the remainder of the estate has been recommended by Wandsworth Council and now goes before the GLA for final approval. This includes a leisure centre on the site of the current York Gardens and a reshaped park extending down towards the new Thames building. The centre, due to open in 2024, will include an eight court sports hall, swimming pool and library, all of which be available for use by Thames. This is in addition to the multi-use games area immediately adjacent to our new building. This visualisation looks north from the new Thames building showing the futuristic glass leisure centre and the new park area. A very exciting time indeed.
