Careers education at Thames

Each year our Year 10 have a week’s placement in various business organisations to gain valuable work experience. This year pupils worked in structural engineering, medicine, education, nursing, retail and city farms amongst others. One of the most important benefits of work experience is its potential for pupils to learn more about their own abilities, helping them explore their strengths and weaknesses and identify gaps in their skills. Work experience is also viewed favourably by future employers and can help pupils decide future careers.

Coming soon at Thames is our biannual Careers Fair for all Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 pupils where they have the opportunity to meet professionals from 40 different backgrounds including medicine, banking, fashion design, architecture, law, performing arts, youthwork, IT and many more.
