Sponsored Cross Country

In aid of Go MAD, Providence House & Shallowford Farm

This year again all Thames pupils take part in our annual Cross Country on Wandsworth Common. By running up to 10 laps of one kilometre each, they raise funds for a number of good causes through individual sponsorship by family and friends. This year’s event takes place in November and will raise funds for:

Go MAD in Tanzania: Go MAD is a charity that exists to improve the health and living standards of villagers in the Diocese of Mara, Tanzania. Thames has had links with this charity for many years and teams of Year 10 and 11 pupils have the opportunity to go each year to experience a grassroots trip to rural Africa to build water tanks and goat sheds and help with medical work.

Providence House & Shallowford Farm: a youth centre in Battersea passionate about improving the lives and opportunities for local young people offering an alternative to anti-social behaviour and social isolation. Visits to the farm provide opportunities for learning and new experiences.

Our Cross Country has been an annual sponsored event since 2013. We have raised about £30,000 for a number of good causes so far and are looking forward to raising some more this year.
