Information on remote education: At Thames we started online learning on the first day of lockdown in March 2020. During lockdowns we deliver the curriculum according to the regular school timetable. It has been adapted where necessary to streamline and enhance the remote learning experience using G suite apps. If necessary pupils borrow a school laptop.
Lessons are taught live with aspects continued off screen or in pupils' own time. We recognise that screen fatigue needs to be avoided despite our capability for 100% live lessons. Sport provision has been adapted with some live sessions and clubs take place live on Friday afternoons. We expect pupils to be on time to lessons, fully engaged, with cameras on and to be completing all work to the best of their ability. If there are any connectivity issues we expect pupils to be proactive in seeking out work to be covered, for example by accessing the materials in their subject google classrooms.
Subject teachers and form tutors keep in regular contact with pupils. Feedback and assessment takes place through teachers' marking of work online, live questioning, handwritten & scanned uploads, and a variety of online assessment formats which may include forms, Q&A and polls. LSA and one to one provision continues online as it does in person. Self isolating pupils can access the learning in exactly the same way as others who are learning remotely.
