Spanish and French are taught to GCSE level and a high number of pupils achieve A*/A grades. Mandarin and Italian are offered as after school enrichment classes. Extra-curricular provision includes the popular Spanish Spelling Bee for Year 7. In addition Latin is taught in Year 7 as it is foundational to many modern European languages.

Bilingual pupils often take GCSEs in their second language in Year 8, 9 or 10, including in languages such as Russian, Polish, Mandarin and Japanese.

Overseas trips give pupils the opportunity to practise using their language skills and broaden their cultural understanding. Recent trips have included Madrid, Paris and Lille. Pupils also had the opportunity to enjoy a Latin/Geography trip to Pompeii, Vesuvius and Herculaneum.



With a Value Add of 1.9 grades above his CATs predictions, Ibrahim attained 6 A*/A (9-7) grades with A*s in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Spanish and As in Biology and French and Bs in English Language, English Literature and Religious Studies. He also took Additional Maths, an AS qualification.

Ibrahim was an invaluable member of the 2016 Tanzania team, helping build goat sheds, water tanks and a toilet block in rural villages with the charity Go MAD. Passionate about sport, Ibrahim played regularly for the school’s football team. Ibrahim was offered places at several grammar schools as well as a 90% bursary to board at Christ’s Hospital School, West Sussex. He has chosen accept this offer and will study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Spanish.
