Left brain? Right brain? Or both?

At Thames all aspects of an individual’s personality are valued and pupils' gifts are nurtured so that each child can grow in confidence and achieve their best in creative and aesthetic spheres.

The Creative Arts curriculum includes the Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Music, Design Technology and Fashion & Textiles. Many of the teachers are also specialist practitioners who work in their respective professions as well as teaching, bringing a strong awareness of the skills and knowledge required for professional success as adults.

Pupils can take part in a wide variety of co-curricular opportunities which typically include instrumental ensemble, choir, band, drama, dance, ceramics, printing, life drawing and woodwork.

GCSE results illustrate the high level of achievement with pupils achieving 87% A*/A grades in Art and 70% A*/A grades in Music averaged over the past three years. In the 2017 ISA London West Art Competition, one pupil won first prize and another, Highly Commended.

“The range of pupils' creative skills is evident in the high quality of art throughout the school. Pupils sing well, dance proficiently and perform enthusiastically on stage.”
